I’m Johnny Riordan — a country singer-songwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. I was raised in the small town of Griffin in a big, musical family where we didn’t have much, but we had each other and we had music.
Growing up, life was simple, and money was tight. We learned to work hard for everything. That grit never left me. I started singing before I could tie my shoes and learned to play the piano as a kid. At 12, I picked up a pair of drumsticks and never put them down — eventually forming a band with my brother during our high school years. We even kept it going a little into college before I stepped away from music to study medicine.
But some things never let go of you.
I write country music to make people feel something.
Whether it's a rocking backroads anthem that pulls you back to childhood summers or a quiet song that helps you reflect on life’s harder moments — every song I write is meant to carry weight. I don’t believe in empty lyrics or writing just to fill space. I want each song to mean something to someone. If a lyric of mine helps you through a struggle, sparks a memory, or simply gives you a moment of joy — that’s the entire reason I do this.
Life is about relationships and using what you've been given to make an impact. For me, that's music. And my only goal is for every single track to offer something real.
About three years ago, I picked up a guitar for the first time with real purpose. A year and a half later, I wrote my first song. Since then, writing music has become more than a hobby — it’s a calling.
